DeeLuxe owners Scott Howell and Rick Robinson go back to 1990 when they worked together at Durham’s legendary Magnolia Grill. They always figured they’d collaborate to do a something special one day…DeeLuxe Chicken is that special something.
Scott trained at the Culinary Institute of America and, after internships at notable New York City restaurants Jam’s and Arcadia, came back to Durham. He soon opened Nana’s, one of the most respected and lauded restaurants in the Triangle until it closed earlier this year. Scott is also the owner and executive chef of NanaSteak, NanaTaco and Bar Virgile.
Rick grew up in Chapel Hill and has worked at every level in the kitchen, from a greasy spoon diner cook at age 14 to white tablecloth restaurants throughout the US. He launched his own restaurant, Mondo Bistro, in Chapel Hill NC in 1993 before heading west to become the founding chef for the internationally renowned Taylor’s Refresher (now Gott’s Roadside) in the Bay Area. Rick’s mighty fine career also includes stops at Genuine Roadside in the Gotham West Market in NYC and as owner/operator of two Rise Biscuit Donut franchises in North Carolina.
